Bairei hyakucho gafu. Ten Pl.06 by Kono Bairei Illustration-Vintage catching light with an almostPlate 6 from the Hyakucho Gafu shows Bairei's signature economy at work: a bird in mid pose rendered with fluid, unhesitant brushwork against a largely open field. The composition is asymmetric but perfectly balanced, drawing the eye from the dense ink of the bird's body outward into stillness. This is kacho e distilled no excess, no decoration for its own sake, only observation translated into line and wash with Meiji era precision. Offered as an
